![]() There are like four orders of magnitude difference between the expected sizes of these kinds of vehicles.īut in a game you want the fighters to at least be visible without the battleships taking up the whole screen, so you've got to make allowances. Combat aircraft mostly weigh in at under 20 tons when fully loaded. Battleships weigh in at ~50,000 tons or more. Large oceangoing cargo ships can hold hundreds of thousands of metric tons of cargo. To be honest, realizing that you can cram 45 tons of cargo onto a Dagger (nearly equal to the base capacity of a star barge!), was already a bit of a balance faux pas because it draws attention to the (usually overlooked) fact that the game simply does not size these two things (fighters/interceptors, and freighters) realistically relative to one another. It would be a bit silly if this caused carriers to become the best freighters though - so I don't know if this kind of "fighter" is destined for the base game or whether it should be in a plug-in instead. If that's true are there any you would recommend me try out? Ones that can be used without upsetting the story of the vanilla game & ones that you'd think I may want to try out at a later point that do overwrite the vanilla story.I actually think it's pretty cool. It sounds like you've also played this game with some mods. I appreciate any info you have & are willing to share. I've been enjoying our li'l back 'n' forth, lol. If the cloaking device doesn't work for this mission do I need to just attempt to destroy it or are there other available methods? ![]() Before I continue trying to search for it, is that a viable means of ditching that ship and, if so, does it only need to be on my flagship or all ships in my fleet? If it does, I know that I can just park my other ships on a planet. I swore at one of the outfitters I'd been to I'd seen a cloaking device of some sort, however, it doesn't show up in the list of stuff on the map that tells me where I can get such goods. It simply tells me that I have to lose the tail somehow. ) On a somewhat different topic, I'm at a stage of the missions where a Republic ship is following me everywhere I go, thus preventing me from turning in some info to the rebels. Hey, thanks for your detailed elaboration of your original comment. ![]() ![]() I personally don't like using fleets, seems to kinda remove the challenge from a part of the game, but from what I read on the forums that's how you should go for a flagship once you have the money for it. Another thing about the Bactrains is that it is the only ship currently capable of (although with much difficulty) capturing a Quarg ship or Korath World-Ship. The Bactrain holds the title of "King of Flagships" right now because of its flexibility and you can turn it into whatever you want, and with a big enough fleet you don't really need to fight, just let the escorts do the job, so you just sit somewhere safe until the enemy is disabled, board it and loot/capture the ship. If you're looking for fighters, north of syndicate space there are aliens that ocasionally show up the korath, and they have some quite good fighters, probably the best ones in vanilla (maybe). In case you need money for the fleet, go loot pirate heavy warships for their reactors or run trade routes. Since you're gonna go for a fleet, get a Bactrain flagship, take out all of its weapons (shields too if you're willing to) and buy many cargo expansions, then go and loot Quarg ships for their equip and put their tech on your escorts (ships other than your flagship), but beware as they are really strong, I'd say 10 properly outfitted Bactrains should do the trick, but only if it's one ship at a time. (this potentially has some spoilers for you, since you just started the game a couple days ago, read at own risk,) The name is about some posts in the NSFW SFW thread, but if you want a bit more insight on what I meant by Bactrain: Truly though, if others hadn't provided better responses, eventually I would've puzzled it out with the help of your one provided word, the net & other key words.
